Do you find yourself constantly distracted at work? Are the challenges of running a small business limiting your productivity? The following tips will help you get back on track and make the most of your day to day routine.

Identify, Prioritize, and Delegate

Start with your to-do list, and highlight the most important tasks that only you can perform. Prioritize these tasks. Don’t be afraid to delegate smaller, less significant tasks to outside contractors or other members of your team. Make sure to focus most of your energy on the highest priority tasks. Having trouble deciding which tasks to prioritize? Start with the ones that are most urgent or have the shortest timeline. Long term tasks should be put on a separate list so they don’t distract you from more urgent ones.

Move One Step at at Time

Multitasking is tempting, especially when you have a lot of work that needs to be done. Trying to complete more than one task at once, however, is counterproductive. Spreading yourself too thin will slow you down. Work on one task until it’s complete, and only then move on to what’s next on your list. If you have task that takes a long time to complete, consider breaking it into pieces. Set a timer to help keep you on track.

Utilize Meetings

While meetings are often necessary, they can also be major time wasters. To increase productivity, make sure you have a clear agenda before every meeting.  Although meetings can be helpful, it is also important to plan days that are completely free of meetings. This way you have more time to devote to completing important tasks.

Take Breaks, Exercise, And Eat Well

Although it’s easy to get caught up in the business of the day, remember to take consistent breaks. Going for a brief walk or stretching are great ways to keep you mind fresh. It’s also important to eat a balanced breakfast and lunch. You can’t work productively if you are hungry!

Cut Out Distractions

Another way to increase productivity is to remove as many distractions as possible. Avoid going on social media during work hours. If you must use a social media account for your business, schedule a specific time for the account’s upkeep.

Also considering scheduling specific times to check your email. Checking your email throughout the day leads to many distractions.

Keeping your desk tidy is another method of cutting out distractions. Not only does it make it easier to find important documents and other objects in a timely matter, but you won’t be distracted by unnecessary clutter.

Following these tips will improve your productivity. Running a small business is challenging work, but by keeping tasks organized, taking care of yourself, and cutting out distractions you’ll be able to maximize your time!
